Testsealabs Chagas Antibody IgG/IgM Test
Chagas Disease is an insect-borne, zoonotic infection caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, leading to systemic infection in humans with acute manifestations and long-term sequelae. It is estimated that 16–18 million individuals are infected worldwide, with approximately 50,000 deaths annually attributed to chronic Chagas disease (World Health Organization)¹.
Historically, buffy coat examination and xenodiagnosis were the most commonly used methods²˒³ for diagnosing acute T. cruzi infection. However, these methods are either time-consuming or lack sensitivity.
In recent years, serological tests have become the mainstay for diagnosing Chagas disease. Notably, tests based on recombinant antigens eliminate false-positive reactions—a common issue with native antigen tests⁴˒⁵.
The Chagas Antibody IgG/IgM Test is an instant antibody test that detects antibodies to T. cruzi within 15 minutes, requiring no specialized instruments. By using T. cruzi-specific recombinant antigens, the test achieves high sensitivity and specificity.
