Testsealabs Entamoeba Histolytica Antigen Test
Entamoeba histolytica:
It has two main stages in its life cycle: trophozoites and cysts.
- After escaping from the cyst, trophozoites parasitize in the intestinal cavity or the wall of the large intestine.
- They feed on the contents of the large intestine, including bacteria, and reproduce by division under conditions of hypoxia and in the presence of intestinal bacteria.
- The resistance of trophozoites is very weak: they die within hours at room temperature and within minutes in dilute hydrochloric acid.
- Under appropriate conditions, trophozoites can invade and destroy tissues, causing colonic lesions and clinical symptoms.
