Rotavirus
Rotavirus is one of the main pathogens causing diarrhea in infants and young children. It mainly infects small intestinal epithelial cells, resulting in cell damage and diarrhea.
Rotavirus is prevalent in summer, autumn and winter every year, with the infection route being the fecal-oral route.
Clinical manifestations include:
- Acute gastroenteritis
- Osmotic diarrhea
The course of the disease is generally 6–7 days, with specific symptoms lasting as follows:
- Fever: 1–2 days
- Vomiting: 2–3 days
- Diarrhea: 5 days
- Severe dehydration symptoms may also occur.
