Intended Use
Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Ab IgG/IgM Test is used to qualitatively detect the existence of antibody (IgG and IgM) to mycoplasma pneumoniae(MP) in whole blood, serum or plasma, as an auxiliary diagnostic reagent of MP infection in clinic.
Summary
Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is a common pathogenic microorganism that causes primary atypical pneumonia and other respiratory infections. In addition to the respiratory tract, MP can cause other serious complications. MP infection is widespread and can lead to pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, lung abscess, pulmonary bullae, pleurisy, and multisystem damage. It is not easy to identify whether pneumonia is caused by MP, viruses, bacteria, or other pathogenic infections—and the treatment of MP infection differs from that of other bacterial or viral infections. After MP infection, MP-IgM appears first, then decreases as MP-IgG titer rises and remains at a high level. In addition, IgM antibody is generally weakly positive during the initial infection. Therefore, a negative IgM result does not mean the absence of MP infection. IgG antibody detection is essential and necessary.
